How much is the labor to replace a dual sided serpentine belt in a VW passat? The est. I got was over $300.?

Is this estimate a fair one? I just found the part on-line on sale for about $30. Is the labor really that expensive, or am I being ripped off? Please help! How much is the labor to replace a dual sided serpentine belt in a VW passat? The est. They usually like to work on peoples cars and take a donation in return for there service at least they do where I live in a small town in California. How much is the labor to replace a dual sided serpentine belt in a VW passat? On my car all you have to do is fit a rachet handle onto the belt tensioner to take the tension off of the belt... pull old belt off... put new belt on. Looks like a few things have to be taken apart to replace the belt on your car if it's one of the later models...http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:3HO鈥?/a> A couple less common tools and bolts that could be a problem are involved. The job looks easier on an earlier model, but some covers still need to be removed.

That's the kind of job you should be able to get some estimates for over the phone... I wouldn't bother buying the belt yourself and bringing it somewhere. They're going to make their money on the part or just charge you more for labor. How much is the labor to replace a dual sided serpentine belt in a VW passat? The est. I got was over $300.?That is probably pretty fair if you are going to a VW dealership most places charge about $110 a hour for labor plus parts. And remember parts are more expensive at the dealer because they are VW certified and not just a parts store. You may be able to buy the belt yourself and see if a local shop whom works on VW may be able to install for cheaper? How much is the labor to replace a dual sided serpentine belt in a VW passat? Wow, that is expensive. Which engine does it have in it? I'll get you a routing diagram and save you a lot of money. The belt tensioners on these cars use a screw to release the tension. I don't have the specs on the bolt, but I found one laying around in my garage to use on mine.

It is relatively easy to do, maybe a 10 minute job for an experienced mechanic.
