Hi, i have a 2006 VW Jetta (wolfberg model). when i took my vechicle a week back for service( it was a VW dealer and VW service center too), they said its time to change my break pads, as only 1mm is left. But the cost is 500$. You will definitely be able to beat dealer prices, and don't even consider taking your car to any of the franchised auto service places.
Dealers charge way too much and franchised shops many times hire poorly trained "mechanics" whose primary job is to sell you more services whether you need them or not.
