How much would a new alternator cost on my 2001 BMW 330ci Convertible?

I have a 2001 BMW 330ci convertible and the alternator went. I'm curious how much a new one would cost and also the cost of the labor. Would this be something I should go to the dealer directly and ask about?

PS-This work would be done in the Houston area. (not sure if the place makes a difference)How much would a new alternator cost on my 2001 BMW 330ci Convertible? It depends on what amperes you currently have installed in the car, or what you would like to install in it right now. The ampere rating is embossed in your old alternator. Look for it (it can either be 90 or 120 A). Then visit:

The labor cost would be approximately 1 to 1.5 hours.

Mind you, never buy repaired or surplus alternators. Just buy the original then have it installed preferably by a reputable BMW independent shop. Dealerships are ok but their prices are too much.
