Car and Driver magazine has pictures of the "concept" M3. It looks pretty cool, but it doesn't seem much better than the 335 coupe. I think their 335 with twin turbo is too good for its segment. BMW should make a larger gap between the 335 and M3. What do you think? What do you think of the new next generation BMW M3?Agree with you! Time will certainly corroborate the view expressed! What do you think of the new next generation BMW M3?I'm not quite sure where you're getting your information for your comments. No information on the specs of the new M3 have been released.
The 335 can't even outperform the e46 (current) M3 in a straight line. On a track, there's no comparison. The next generation M3 is rumored to have a ~420 hp NA V8. The FI I6 of the 335 is generally thought to be under-rated by BMW at 300 hp (more like 325), but even so, the new M3 will be a step above in terms of power. And like the e46, handling and braking of the M cars is a class above the normal line.
The argument could be made that the 335 can be modified to generate over 400 hp (look at what people do with B5 Audi S4s, another TT powerplant). But rest assured, there will be aftermarket superchargers available for a V8 M3 before long, and based on the 500+ hp being wrung out of the current I6 M3 by packages such as AA's, a FI V8 M3 should reliably generate over 600 hp. All speculation, but there simply is no comparison.
