Like where it says "BMW" is scratched off and you see the shiny silver under it. There is a WHOLE lot more going on with your car right now depreciating your car like time and miles. Unless you have a good BMW from the good years from around 1982 to 1988/89 depending on model. Those cars are gaining value every year and in about 15 years they will be worth more than a new BMW if BMW is still in business. A Scratch on a Badge (that can be removed and therefore a new one bought) is not going to Depreciate a car.

Age, miles, condition, history etc etc is what causes depreciation.



Think about this - if people at your school are mean and you fear they might vandalize your car, then in all honesty they are not going to just simply scratch a removable / replaceable badge are they ???How much does a BMW depreciate if the logo is scratched off?I had a 2003 BMW 325xi with 142,000 Miles and the label never had any sign of wear. I think it is a little harder to get it off than just scratching it.

By the real definition of asset depreciation, it doesn't directly cause it to depreciate. The emblem pops right off, and you can buy a new one off Ebay for $15.
