Im looking to buy a 3 series BMW from around 1992 to around 1995ish that will probly have around 150,000miles on it. Assuming the car was treated well its whole life and I treat the car well, about how many more miles should I be able to get from it?How many miles will I get out of a BMW?As with any car, the number of miles it will last is entirely dependant on two things:
1) how it's driven. hot clutching, performance driving, massive accleration, and the like all put added wear and tear on a car. that's going to increase your chances of a breakdown. Make sure you're buying the car from a responsible source and make sure YOU don't push your car harder than it's built for.
2) Upkeep. The number one reason people's cars begin to go bad after only 100K miles is poor or infrequent upkeep. Change your oil at the very LEAST every 5k miles or 6 months. I change mine every 3 months just to give it extra love. Also, you need occasional inspections, and correct ANYTHING as soon as it comes up... broken things that leave a car running can still damage OTHER parts of the engine, even if the thing works as a whole.
Do your upkeep and drive responsibly and there's no reason your BMer shouldn't last at least 250-300K EASILY.How many miles will I get out of a BMW?
THINK! you are purchasing a used car.
If you do this, if you buy a old BMW, you will pay for the privilege. How many miles will I get out of a BMW?Wait don't do that! 150,000k on it is not a lot of miles on a M50 engine but I would try to find one with less and ALL(or as many as you can get) service records. Engine repairs can be costly on an M50 engine and as well as they are constructed thins still wear out and break. My first BMW had nearly 300,000 miles on it when I sold it and it still ran fine. However I just got rid of a 1995 525ia that had 180,000 miles and it was really starting to have some issues with Vanos, and coolant leaks. How many miles will I get out of a BMW?
Both diesels and petrols will do that again easy - they are very solid vehicles. But you *have* to maintain them properly. How many miles will I get out of a BMW?its not the maker but the driver that determines this
drive them easy and do scheduled maintenance and they will run foreverHow many miles will I get out of a BMW?
I just had to get rid of my 2002 325i, sport package. I had about 115k on it and once I hit about 80,000 miles on it, all I had was trouble and they are so expensive to repair. I have always owned German cars and because of that one I went with an Infiniti. Some day I will go back but I am kind of negative because of the trouble I had with it, but man, I loved driving that car.
