Can a Volkswagon dealership cut a key for a BMW?

I bought the key online and I'm not really that close to a BMW dealership. The kind of key that has to be cut is laser cut. Can this be done? I think if I call a BMW dealership they will say that only they can do this just to get the extra money out of me.
