How do you open the hood on a 1980 BMW 733i?

My friend inherited his grandpa's 1980 BMW 733i, We can't figure out where the hell the lever/latch is to open the hood.How do you open the hood on a 1980 BMW 733i?The interior hood release lever is tucked up under the instrument panel on the far left side. This lever must be pulled toward you (towards the rear of the car). It swings downward in an arc. To close the lid, lay the hood down and latch it from this same lever, this time pushing it towards the front of the car. Whatever you do, don't slam the hood downward expecting it to lock. It locks from the inside of the car using the method just described.How do you open the hood on a 1980 BMW 733i?Should have the one inside and one near the windshield on the outside cause the hood should open forward.
