What are some replacement engines of different makes, such as Ford, that I could put in my 1990 BMW 535i?

I wanted to replace my 1990 BMW 535i engine with an engine from a different make, but I need to know which ones will be compatible and which ones will fit. Does anybody know of any engines I could use? What are some replacement engines of different makes, such as Ford, that I could put in my 1990 BMW 535i?In reality your best options is to keep a bmw engine in it. You can alway get a nicer one. But if you really must put a different engine in it then i know my friend is looking into putting a chevy small block 350 in his but truthfully it is not an easy task at all. there is so much converting. What are some replacement engines of different makes, such as Ford, that I could put in my 1990 BMW 535i?
For direct bolt up you can go with the older better 3.5 motor. To go with any other motor thats a lot of work and when guys change the engine they really screw up the balance of the car, either the motor is to light or to heavy. Some guys put in the V12 from the 750 and that really messes things up its a heavy engine. I said the older 3.5 is better. Its better because its stronger and way more durable with a little HP loss so little HP low its not noticeable. Put a chip in and it more than the stock engine without the chip. What are some replacement engines of different makes, such as Ford, that I could put in my 1990 BMW 535i?Technically, any engine can fit into any car. You just need to change the engine mountings around to fit in.

Unfortunately, if you DO swap out the engine, there goes all your diagnostic tools, your electronic milage meter and a host of other stuff that BMW puts into their cars.

In otherwords, not worth it. BMW engines are some of the best money can buy.
I seriously think it would be more trouble than its worth to change the engine to a different engine. It would be far better to get a guaranteed used engine. It is easer to smog and improves the resale value. Check out the following link.

They are far more reliable. I think a fun project would be the NEW 535 setup. Twin Turbo 3.0L inline 6.

Your going to have to do some finagling to get any other makes powertrain to fit correctly though. The older BMW's don't really like other cars! What are some replacement engines of different makes, such as Ford, that I could put in my 1990 BMW 535i?
It would cost a fortune to put an engine from another manufacture in there. Companies don't make their parts compatible with other companies.
Parts are notcompatible with BMW. They use their own parts. You don't sound like a motorhead so either sell the car or keep it BMW.What are some replacement engines of different makes, such as Ford, that I could put in my 1990 BMW 535i?
Yugo.
Stay with BMW, my friend.
