Which performance cars are considered threats to the BMW M3 coupe?

In terms of power and speed, the M3 isn't #1 but the show Top Gear (or some other car enthusiast group) pitted the Mustang and the M3 and some other car against one another. The other cars all went further, faster than the M3 at the straight lane but in the end, the M3 still won due to its handling.
